New requirements in Part L of the 2010 Building Regulations require energy performance calculations before construction starts. Is your organisation ready?
This half day seminar on Part L2 of the 2010 Building Regulations, which are due to come into force on 1st October 2010, will offer a unique insight into how the new requirements will affect the compliance methodology.
Although the approved documents for Parts L2A and L2B were released at the end of April, full details of the changes to the National Calculation Method are only now being released by BRE. A significant change from the previous regulations is the requirement before construction starts to submit calculations using an approved software tool to show the building as designed will comply with the regulations. At the same time a list of specifications to which the building is to be constructed must be submitted to Building Control. On completion, the as-built building will need to be checked against the design specifications. Furthermore there is a new requirement to report evidence of compliance. It is anticipated that the approved software tools will facilitate this process.
The seminar will cover all significant changes to Part L2 and review the availability of approved software tools.
Our programme includes:
- Background and current status of Part L2
- Outcome of the consultation process
- Changes to Approved Documents L2A and L2B
- Update on National Calculation Method and how it is implemented in SBEM
- Impact of changes on methodology for showing compliance
- Review of approved software tools
