The BREEAM 2011 update represents a significant shift in standards to reflect new legislation and good practice.

The key changes are:

- The way that energy credits are assessed, to include energy efficiency as well as low carbon building design.
- Requirement to do a BREEAM In-Use within three years of operation for ‘Excellent’ or ‘Outstanding’.
- An increased emphasis on commissioning, handover and aftercare, including monitoring the building performance.
- Pre-requisite credits that have to be achieved and have no score to the assessment
- Three credits for involving a BREEAM Accredited Professional from the early stages of a project.
- A shift in focus onto new buildings with a change in title to ‘New Construction’
- The majority of schemes covered under one assessment, including many that were previously ‘bespoke’.

This seminar will assist attendees to:

- To gain a better understanding of BREEAM 2011 and how to deliver 'Excellent' ratings on projects
- Identify the best credits to target in terms of cost effectiveness and practicality
- Set up a project to ensure BREEAM is integrated into the design and construction of the building.

Course sessions include:

- Introduction to BREEAM, how it works and key changes
- Key credits to target in all the sections
- Potential for Innovation credits and examples of some already awarded
- How to ensure that you deliver an 'Excellent' building.

Who should attend:

This course would be of interest to anyone involved in BREEAM projects and of particular interest to designers, project managers and contractors. The sessions will cover the BREEAM credits and topics that are common to all non-domestic BREEAM schemes, rather than focussing on one particular scheme.

Certificates of attendance are issued to attendees for CPD purposes.
